Ivory CoastPlease pray for the safety of our workers and those they serve in Abidjan, Ivory Coast

December 6, 2010 - As you may know from the news media, two presidential candidates have declared victory in the recent election in the Ivory Coast. Both have been sworn in as president. The airport and borders have been closed.

HOPE worldwide Ivory Coast Country Director, Solange Balou reported that all their volunteers and staff are staying close to home since there are soldiers and looters on the streets. Stores and houses have been set on fire in Abidjan and rural villages have been burned. There have been injuries and deaths but no confirmed details on the extent.

Also our U.S. Government funding for Ivory Coast programs has been suspended pending the outcome of this political situation.

Please pray for the workers, their families and those they serve.

Please pray for Abidjan, Ivory Coast
